President Trump is polling his advisers on whether Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth should leave his post, according to CBS reporting cited by First Squawk. The soundings suggest the administration is weighing a possible exit for Hegseth, though no decision has been announced. The development matters because a Pentagon leadership change would come amid active military and budget decisions. What to watch next is whether Trump publicly endorses Hegseth or signals a replacement.
